Round table in Bor


In the frames of the project „Change for good“, a round table was organized in the Municipality Hall in Bor on the topic „Social inclusion of children and youth with behavioral problems and implementation of measures of open protection“. The project “Change for good” contributes to social inclusion and poverty reduction of children and youth with behaviour problems through implementation of the Serbian Social Welfare Law and Social Welfare Development Strategy. This goal is achieved through 1) enhancing resocialisation and preventing anti-social behaviour of children and youth with behaviour problems through tailor-made services in three day-care centres located in Bor, Vranje and Belgrade and 2) establishing and strengthening intersectoral partnership and efficient use of resources in targeted communities aimed at promoting positive development of children and youth at risk.
Project is financially supported by European Union and implemented by the NGO “Kokoro” from Bor, in cooperation with International Aid Network – IAN from Belgrade, “Nexus” from Vranje and the Centres for social work in Bor, Belgrade and Vranje. Project duration is 20 months and its total is 201.007 EUR. This activity is part of a wider project “EU support to inclusive society”, financed by the EU with 5.4 million of euros, conducted by the Delegation of the EU in the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with the Ministry of work, employment, veteran and social affairs.

Тhe Law on juvenile criminal offenders has foreseen implementation of diversion measures and other alternative sanctions in the community as a form of restorative justice. This project has established a community based social protection service aiming to improve the status of children and youth during the process of developing into mature, responsible and comprehensive personality and achieving their full potential.

Project objectives were presented at the round table underlying the importance of intersectoral cooperation necessary for provision of good quality service to children and youth with behavior problems. The participants were also informed about the significance of early detection and prevention of antisocial behavior of youth through the community based service.

The round table was attended by the representatives of the centers for social work from Bor, Belgrade and Vranje, juvenile justice from Zaječar responsible for Bor region, local authorities, police department, representatives from School administration department, IAN – International Aid Network from Belgrade, NEXUS from Vranje and the media.


The “European Union Support to Inclusive Society”, a project funded by the European Union with EUR 5.4 million, aims to ensure greater social inclusion of vulnerable groups in Serbia such as elderly, children, minorities including Roma and others. Through the project the EU has granted EUR 4.3 million as 28 grants, which will be implemented in 36 cities and municipalities in Serbia by the end of 2017. The projects implemented by the national and provincial social welfare institutions, municipalities and cities, social welfare centers , citizens associations, foundations, educational institutions and public companies will increase the scope and quality of services at the local level in social and health care, housing, education and employment, and thereby strengthen the social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
